All products meet or exceed domestic and international regulatory standards for juvenile furniture safety and performance, and are carefully designed to mitigate the risks of potential hazards to your child. Our existing products undergo regular product usability and safety testing, and are subject to design practices that meet the changing needs of contemporary families.

Make Every Night a Good, SAFE Night!

Ragazzi Fine Furniture is very proud to support JPMA in their Safe Sleep Initiative. We value their commitment to providing parents and caregivers access to vital safe sleep information, through proper education.

On the JPMA Safe Sleep Website, www.cribsafety.org, you will find important resources on how to create a safe sleep environment. Please take a moment to watch the demonstration videos and view the safety links. JPMA recently embarked on a five-city education and sleep product donation tour. You may have seen them in Chicago, Milwaukee, New York, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. Also, make sure you check out JPMA’s new blog called “The Parenthood” as well as Ragazzi’s blog for updates.

The safest place for an infant or child to sleep is in a fully functional, properly assembled, JPMA certified crib. Ragazzi Fine Furniture is completely JPMA certified.

Safety tips from JPMA on cribs:

  • Always place your baby on his or her back to sleep-for naps and at night.
  • NEVER place the crib near windows, draperies, blinds or wall mounted decorative accessories with long cords.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines on the appropriate weight and size of babies who can safely use the crib.
  • Make sure there are no missing, loose, broken or improperly installed screws, brackets or other hardware on the crib or the mattress support. Check the stability and hardware on the crib often.
  • Crib slats or spindles should be spaced no more than 2 3/8” apart, and none should be loose or missing.
  • Never use a crib with corner posts over 1/16 of an inch above the end panels (unless they’re over 16” high for a canopy). Babies can strangle if their clothes become caught on corner posts. These should be unscrewed or sawed off, and the remaining end panel should be sanded smooth.
  • The crib mattress should fit snugly with no more than two fingers width between the edge of the mattress and the crib side. Otherwise, baby can get trapped between the mattress and the side of the crib.
  • No cutout areas on the headboard or footboard so baby’s head cannot get trapped.
  • No cracked or peeling paint.
  • No splinters or rough edges.
  • Look for the JPMA Certification Seal.

Proper Maintenance and Storage of Cribs

When properly cared for, cribs are intended to last for years. To ensure the safety of your crib for current and future use follow these guidelines:

  • When storing your crib for future use, save the instructions and keep them with the crib. Often manufacturers post or attach instructions to the mattress platform so that they are easy to find when the crib is re-assembled for later use.   • When storing your crib, keep all parts, together and labeled for future assembly.
  • Do not try to repair the crib without manufacturer-approved hardware. Don’t substitute parts.

Crib Durability and Lifespan

When a crib is assembled to the manufacturer’s instructions and used properly, it provides a safe and comfortable environment for baby. To ensure a proper lifespan, follow these tips:

  • Infants should ALWAYS sleep in a crib, which meets current Federal and ASTM standards.
  • Crib assembly is best completed before the baby arrives to ensure there are no missing parts and the crib is in working order.
  • Read and follow all instructions and warnings provided with the crib. If the instructions are not clear or parts are missing, call the manufacturer or retailer. You can contact Ragazzi toll free at 1-877-274-0277. Under no circumstances should substitute or makeshift hardware be used.
  • When disassembling a crib for storage, retain all the parts and instructions. Store parts and instructions in a Ziploc bag and tape to the bottom of the crib.
  • When reassembling a crib, be sure you have all the parts.
  • Do not substitute hardware.
  • Always send in the product registration card that comes with every new crib (most crib manufacturers offer this service online as well). Returning the card ensures that the consumer will be notified if the crib is recalled. You can access Ragazzi’s registration card system here.
  • Check the crib often for missing hardware, loose screws or anything out of the ordinary. A consumer could even make it part of the routine to inspect the crib every time the sheet is changed, which Stork Craft recommends.
